Monsey (Ramapo Township, Rockland County) has grown from a small country settlement into a sprawling Orthodox metropolis, now spanning Monsey proper, Wesley Hills, Spring Valley, Pomona, and beyond. Virtually every food establishment is kosher, Yiddish is widely spoken in the Chassidic sections, and community infrastructure rivals any Jewish neighborhood in the country. Rockland Kosher on Orchard Street — reputedly the largest kosher supermarket in the Northeast outside NYC — anchors daily life; Route 59 is lined with kosher restaurants, bakeries, and Judaica shops.

The community is anchored by Vizhnitz (one of the largest Chassidic courts in the US), alongside major Yeshivish institutions like Bais Medrosh Elyon (founded 1943) and Yeshiva Ohr Somayach. Young Israel of Monsey & Wesley Hills serves the Modern Orthodox population. Yeshiva of Spring Valley and Bais Yaakov of Spring Valley serve the day-school market. Housing is significantly more affordable than in New York City or the Five Towns, and the community continues expanding rapidly into adjacent Rockland County towns.
