North Miami Beach / Skylake

One of South Florida's most established frum communities — a dense corridor of shuls, day schools, kosher dining, and a functional eruv, with a strong Sephardic and Israeli presence alongside Ashkenazic families.

The Skylake corridor between NE 163rd and NE 191st Street is South Florida’s longest-established Orthodox community outside of Surfside. Two overlapping eruvin (the NMB Eruv, in continuous operation since 1977, and the Skylake Chabad Eruv) cover the residential grid of ranch homes, condos, and mid-rise apartments. The community skews multigenerational with a notably strong Israeli and Bukharian presence alongside long-time Ashkenazic families.

Yeshiva Toras Chaim Toras Emes — one of the largest yeshivas outside New York / New Jersey — anchors the north end of the corridor. Scheck Hillel Community School serves the full spectrum from 18 months through Grade 12. NE 163rd Street is the dining strip: OKI Miami (Japanese fusion/steakhouse) and Bambu Pan Asian draw diners from across Miami-Dade. Kosher YES Market on NE 167th handles weekly grocery needs.

Note: two separate eruvin serve different sub-areas. Check status weekly at nmberuv.org (NMB Eruv) or skylakechabad.org/eiruv (Skylake Eruv) before Shabbat and confirm with your local rav.
