Is there an eruv in Boro Park?
An eruv is maintained in Boro Park by the Eruv Society of Boro Park, but relying on it is a machlokes, and acceptance varies by kehilla.
Background
The Eruv Society of Boro Park, a volunteer organization, maintains an eruv in the neighborhood. The first small eruv there dates to around 1999โ2000 and was championed by Rav Menashe Klein; it connects with the Flatbush eruv.
From its first construction it was rejected by most of the Chasidic community and by most of the non-Chasidic yeshiva communities, though acceptance has grown over time. Rav Moshe Feinstein's responsa (Iggerot Moshe, Orach Chaim 4:87โ88 and 5:28) set out his opposition to eruvin in Brooklyn, and a 1979 public notice signed by 73 rabbonim โ among them the Rebbes of Bobov, Satmar and Pupa โ declared it forbidden to set up an eruv in any neighborhood of Brooklyn.
Good to know
- Acceptance varies by kehilla. ShulMap takes no position, maps no boundary, and does not publish a status line. Ask your own rav or your community's posek.

Can I carry on Shabbos in Boro Park?
That is a question for your own rav. The Eruv Society of Boro Park, a volunteer organization, maintains an eruv in the neighborhood. Why doesn't ShulMap list an eruv status line for Boro Park?
Because relying on the eruv here is disputed, publishing one side's status line would be taking a side in the machlokes. ShulMap lists status lines only where an eruv is communally accepted.
Eruv: Eruv boundaries are shown for orientation only and reflect the boundary, not live up/down status. Always confirm with your local rav or the eruv hotline before relying on them.
