An eruv is maintained in Boro Park by the Eruv Society of Boro Park, but relying on it is a machlokes, and acceptance varies by kehilla.

Where carrying is contested
In these communities, whether to rely on an eruv is a machlokes. ShulMap explains the background with sources, takes no position, and publishes no status line — ask your own rav.
Crown Heights
Crown Heights has an eruv, built in 2024. Whether to rely on it is a question on which opinions differ: the Crown Heights Beis Din has ruled against carrying, while the eruv's organizers stand behind it. ShulMap takes no position — ask your rav.
Read the background →Flatbush
There is an eruv in parts of Flatbush, but relying on it is contested. ShulMap takes no position — ask your rav.
Read the background →Lakewood
There is no single community-wide eruv in Lakewood, and whether to rely on any eruv there is contested. It is a question for your rav, not for a map.
Read the background →Williamsburg
An eruv in Williamsburg is a long-running machlokes. The Satmar Rebbe leads the opposition, and you should not assume you can carry.

Frequently asked questions
What is an eruv?
An eruv is a boundary, usually made of existing walls, poles and wires, that allows carrying on Shabbos within the area it encloses. Whether an eruv may be relied on is a halachic question, and communities differ.
How do I check if an eruv is up this Shabbos?
Use the eruv's own status line, website or alerts — each page here lists them. Eruvin are checked before every Shabbos and can go down at any time, so never assume one is up, and follow your own rav.
Does ShulMap show eruv maps?
No. ShulMap never draws or approximates an eruv boundary. Each page links to the eruv organization's own map.
Why is a community missing from this guide?
Because ShulMap has not yet verified its eruv against an official source. A missing entry means we have not checked, not that there is no eruv — ask locally.
Eruv: Eruv boundaries are shown for orientation only and reflect the boundary, not live up/down status. Always confirm with your local rav or the eruv hotline before relying on them.
