Moving to East Denver: a practical guide
Housing and what it costs
East Denver is mostly single-family homes on quiet residential streets, with some townhomes and apartments. It is not cheap β Denverβs housing market is expensive β but it costs less than the largest coastal communities. Figures change fast β use the apartment search above for live listings.
Picking a street
The shuls sit within about a mile of each other between South Holly Street and South Poplar Street, so the streets around East Alameda Avenue and South Monaco Parkway keep several within a walk. Decide first whether you want EDOS, Kehilas Bais Yisroel, the Young Israel, Aish Kodesh or Bais Menachem as your home shul.
Kosher and daily life
Denver has kosher groceries and restaurants, though far fewer than a large Northeast community, and daily life runs by car. The Mikvah of East Denver is on South Leyden Street, in the middle of the neighborhood.
Schools
Hillel Academy of Denver on South Hudson Street runs through eighth grade, and the Denver Academy of Torah, a Modern Orthodox school, runs through twelfth grade on East Alameda Avenue. Confirm current admissions and tuition directly with each school.
Who it fits
Families who want a full Orthodox community β several shuls, two day schools, a mikvah β together with Denverβs job market and the mountains an hour away.
