Bergenfield has absorbed much of Bergen County’s Orthodox growth as families price out of neighboring Teaneck. Congregation Beth Abraham on New Bridge Road is the large anchor shul, joined by the Bais Medrash of Bergenfield (BMOB) on South Prospect Avenue, the Sephardic Congregation Ohr HaTorah, and the Netzach Yisroel beis medrash. The community skews slightly more yeshivish than Teaneck but the two towns function as one contiguous neighborhood.

Day-to-day kosher needs are covered by Grand & Essex Market, a full-service kosher supermarket on New Bridge Road, and Foster Village Kosher Deli & Catering. Bergenfield children largely attend the Bergen County day schools — RYNJ, Yavneh, TABC and Ma’ayanot — a short drive away, and the Teaneck Mikvah on Windsor Road serves Bergenfield and New Milford as well. Housing is overwhelmingly single-family, and while prices have climbed, they remain below Teaneck’s.

Note: Bergenfield sits inside the Teaneck–Bergenfield Area Eruv, which runs in two independent sections (north and south of Route 4). Always confirm status at tberuv.org or the eruv hotline before Shabbat.
