Housing is overwhelmingly single-family; prices have climbed steadily with demand but remain below Teaneck’s for a comparable house. Picking a block

Bergenfield and Teaneck function as one contiguous neighborhood, so the choice is less about town lines than about which shul and which section. Congregation Beth Abraham on New Bridge Road is the large anchor; BMOB on South Prospect draws a slightly more yeshivish crowd; Ohr HaTorah serves the Sephardic community. Because the Teaneck–Bergenfield eruv runs in two independent sections north and south of Route 4, confirm which section covers a specific address.

Kosher and daily life

Grand & Essex Market on New Bridge Road is a full-service kosher supermarket and covers most weekly needs, with Foster Village Kosher Deli & Catering alongside it. For a wider restaurant selection most families drive the few minutes to Teaneck’s Cedar Lane. The Teaneck Mikvah on Windsor Road serves Bergenfield and New Milford as well.

Schools

Bergenfield children largely attend the shared Bergen County day schools — RYNJ, Yavneh, TABC, and Ma’ayanot — all a short drive away. This is the same school pool Teaneck families use, which is part of what makes the two towns function as one community. Confirm current admissions and busing directly with each school.

Commuting

Bergenfield is roughly 25 minutes from the George Washington Bridge outside peak hours, with bus service toward Manhattan. Like the rest of the Bergen County corridor, it draws professionals who want a New York commute alongside a full Orthodox infrastructure — at a lower entry price than Teaneck or Englewood.
