Moving to Beverly Hills: a practical guide
Housing and what it costs
Beverly Hills is one of the most expensive places to live in Los Angeles: the Census median home value for 90212 is at its $2 million cap. Most of the Orthodox community lives in the flats, where there are also apartments and duplexes to rent. Use the apartment search above for live listings.
Picking a street
The shuls are spread across the flats rather than on one street: Nessah on South Rexford Drive, Young Israel of North Beverly Hills on Alden Drive, Chabad and SYCS on Wilshire, and Magen David on Foothill Road. Check the walk from a specific house to the shul you will use, and note that Pico-Robertsonβs shuls are just to the south.
Kosher and daily life
Pico Boulevard, just south, is where most families shop and eat out β kosher markets, butchers and restaurants are a few minutes away. Young Israel of North Beverly Hills has its own mikvah.
Schools
Families use the Pico-Robertson schools β Hillel Hebrew Academy, Yavneh Hebrew Academy and YULA among them β and others across the Westside. Confirm current admissions, tuition and transportation directly with each school.
Who it fits
